In anticipation of Earth Day, we partnered with Microsoft to create the Tree Potential Project, an initiative to rally the public to help protect our greatest defense against climate change—our forests.
With massive amounts of satellite data interpreted by Microsoft AI and visualized with a 3D gaming engine, we created interactive layered maps of 20 U.S. forests on microsoft.com.
Visitors can input their zip codes to locate their nearest forest, then interact to discover its distribution of trees, its current state of health, and donate to protect tree species in decline.
Never before has AI been used to interpret the tree population of forests. Nor has the data like this been made available to the general public. So, we created a digital campaign that ran across social media, Microsoft owned media and in massive digital out-of-home in New York and Los Angeles to drive people to the experience.
